Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Office is one of competent Authority in Kaohsiung City. Kaohsiung County and Kaohsiung City have been combined since 2011. We actively would like to integrate and establish an animal shelter which could provide good quality for animals and try to let citizens to have the knowledge of animal protection act. We wish animal could have better living quality and wish citizen to visit the shelter. The best wish is that we hope citizen could adopt the animal from the shelter. The things we set out to do are that we wish to improve animal welfare, turnover rate of space, and citizens’ willingness to adopt the animal. We don’t need a concentration camp for animals or build a disposal area which people don’t want to visit. The area of Kaohsiung Yanchao Animal Protection and Education Park is 0.9 hectare. We have two divisions, Administration Center and Adoption and Education Center. We had a preparation in 2012 and started construction on September in 2014. Then, we completed the project on May and opened the area on July in 2016. We take care of the animal welfare, disease control and energy saving and carbon reduction. We have total 360 dogs and cats currently.

Huoyanshan Ecocenter is situated in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County. It was opened on April 16, 2005. Our goal is to provide people with the knowledge of cliff landscapes in the Huoyanshan nature reserve, native horse-tail pine forests and the region’s ecosystems, as well as nature’s influence on local culture. We host in-center guided tours and educational events and work with community members to collectively promote preservation work, including area patrol and visitor number monitoring. We look forward to increasing people’s love for Huoyanshan’s nature and culture and inviting them to take actions to preserve this place. Huoyanshan Ecocenter is a scenic building with three floors above the ground and two underground floors. Both its exterior and interior have been designed to show the unique natural characteristics of Huoyanshan. There are five stories in the ecocenter. B2 is the facility management space, B1 has ecological exhibition rooms on the area’s terrain, climate and culture, and 1F focuses on local culture and ecology in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County. 2F is the service center where people can gather tour information, and 3F is equipped with a multimedia classroom which regularly shows ecological documentaries, in addition to providing related preservation info. Dr.Jane Goodall visited Chang Jung Christian University in 2014, we initiated the long-term cooperation plan of establishing the “International Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Eco-center” and planted a tree of hope at the site of the newly founded ecological center where the spirit of Jane Goodall can sprout and thrive with hope that the young people in Taiwan will create a better world. The Eco-center takes the concept of the University’s Christian spirit as its main driving force for development. Based on the principle of holistic education, the Center follows the practice of the Universities development strategy, gradually expanding its international perspective and striving to provide sustainable education for everyone, while affirming the dignity and value of all life. Eco-center's environmental education program aims at awareness, knowledge, environmental ethics, civic action skills, and civic action experience. The main characteristic of the program revolves around the International Roots & Shoots action and spirit. Based on learning experience and age differences, the program allows the student to obtain the appropriate concept. Taichung Tzu Chi Jing Si Hall is located in the Fengle Village of the Nantun District of the Taichung City. In its neighborhood, within a couple of minutes walk is the tourist attraction, Fengle Sculpture Park. The predecessor of the Botanical Garden was an afforestation nursery. In the early days, it mainly produced seedlings for the promotion of afforestation. As Chinese people began to pay attention to the greening and beautification of the environment, the function gradually transformed into a nursery for cultivating greening and beautifying the environment and promoting seedlings. Because the park is not far from the urban area and the transportation is convenient, it is an excellent place for mountaineering and rest.
